The Sounds of Musicals - 2009 Summer Kids' Program
Does your child's singing around the house, especially to the most current hits of HSM remind you of your own childhood fondness for the classics like The Sound of Music, The Wizard of OZ, and Annie? Then this camp sounds like the perfect opportunity to introduce them to the basic techniques of vocal and tone production, breathing exercises and demonstrations, using a repertoire selection from some of the most famous classical and current musicals. A time for visual art will be added daily to emphasis the musical/musicals of the day. Parents are invited to an informal presentation of the students' work on Friday.
No prior vocal training or musical experience required only a genuine interest and desire to learn and participate. Students will be encouraged to sing!

Instructor:
Wendy Burchette has a BA from Guilford College, more than 20 years experience performing vocally, and 15 years of experience in early education with several years directed towards music and the visual arts. She has taught music in over a dozen early childhood programs, and developed a visual arts curriculum which incorporated her love of music and drama creating a holistic approach to teaching the arts for a local community arts based organization. She loves every opportunity to use her creative energy to encourage the young child in developing their own creative talents.
Registration Information
Artistic Motion Dance programs are part of the Greensboro Day School Summer 2009 camps for kids. These classes are open to the public. Registration is managed by Greensboro Day School. Online registration is encouraged but paper applications are available by request at summer@greensboroday.org.
