Theatre Classes
The fun you have in our many theatre class offerings is contagious! Creative drama techniques, improvisation, theatre games, basic acting and character study are just a few of the things that are taught. Focus is on developing creativity and using the imagination to transport the student to wherever they want to go and be whoever they want to be!
Theatre Classes - The Downtown Studio
Theatre Class Offerings (varies per semester): Creative Drama – Ages 8-13. Students use creative drama techniques, improvisations and theatre games, basic acting exercises, character study, movement, language and imagination to create their own storylines. Focus is on developing creativity and using imagination to examine how the actor is part of the story. Beginning theatre terminology is established. Teen Acting – Ages 12+. Students will apply intermediate and advanced acting techniques toward scene and character development. Pre-requisite: Creative Drama or Director’s Approval Improv/ComedySports – Ages 12+. A fun, fast-paced, improv comedy class that challenges you to makes up light scenes, games and characters on the spot! Prerequisite: Adv. Acting or Director’s Approval Audition Prep – Ages 8+. Want to be in a show? Auditioning for college or summer programs? This class will allow you to try out your audition material, get feedback and perfect it before you go to your audition! It will also cover basic auditioning techniques for straight plays and musical theatre as well as College, University and Conservatory programs. Pick the right 16 bars for you. Choose the right song for your specific audition. Find out what casting directors look for in a resume and headshot, etc. and what makes a particular audition stand out form the rest! Stagecraft – Ages 12+. Students learn the basics of artistic/set construction techniques. Skills and knowledge gained in stagecraft class may be used in crew assignments for Artistic Motion and/or Vocal Motion productions.
